Frequently asked questions for tutors

Do I need teaching experience or certification?

No formal certification required! We value passion, communication skills, and cultural knowledge over credentials. If you can explain Tagalog clearly and patiently, we want to hear from you. Teaching experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Can I teach if I live outside the Philippines?

Yes, if you are a native Tagalog speaker originally from the Philippines. Many OFWs teach successfully from abroad. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a quiet space for lessons. Payouts are via Stripe to supported countries.

How do I set my lesson price?

During onboarding, you'll select your rate between $10-20 per 45-minute lesson. You can adjust it later (with notice to current students). We recommend starting competitive to build reviews, then increasing as you gain experience.

What if a student doesn't show up?

We have a clear cancellation policy. If a student cancels with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows, you still receive 50% of the lesson fee. We handle all scheduling conflicts and refunds.

Can I teach multiple students at once (group lessons)?

Currently, we focus on 1-on-1 lessons for personalized learning. Group lesson features are in development—tutors will be notified first when available.

What support do you provide tutors?

You'll get: (1) Onboarding training and curriculum guide, (2) Access to tutor community forums, (3) Dedicated support channel for technical or student issues, (4) Regular teaching tips and resource updates.
